Iron Maiden, the heavy rock band, got to have an experience that was out of this world, when they visited Texas’ NASA Space Center.

The rockers launched the band’s Final Frontier Tour in Dallas on June 10. While in Texas they accepted an official invitation for touring the Houston facility.

Michael J. Massimino, an astronaut, gave the band a guided tour. They saw a space shuttle up close and took turns using the flight simulator at the institute.

Iron Maiden is making their song “El Dorado” free as an MP3 download ahead of “The Final Frontier,” the band’s 15th studio album. The Europe release date is August 16th. Artwork is also available for the song.

Singer Bruce Dickinson said, “El Dorado” previews our upcoming studio album. It will be included in our “Final Frontier World Tour” set. We thought about how great it would be to thank our fans as well as get them ready for “The Final Frontier” by giving this song away before the tour and release of the album.

Before they head out on their European tour, Iron Maiden will be spending the summer on a North American trek ahead of “The Final Frontier,” their upcoming release. The outing will kick off in Dallas on June 9 and then crisscross the country, making stops in amphitheaters and arenas in 22 cities. The trek will wrap up in Bristow, VA on July 20.

Iron Maiden recently finished recording a new studio album. According to the producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Rush, Dream Theater), there is still some work left that needs to be done, but that the band’s part is complete. It’s in the can, he added. So to speak. The album title and release date have still not been announced. However it most likely will occur before August 1.

The documentary details the first leg from Iron Maiden’s “Somewhere Back in Time World Tour” that launched in India on February 1, 2008 and wrapped up in Toronto on March 16.

Just three months ago, I was able to see a band that I didn’t ever think I would get to see live. I have now ironically been able to see them twice during this short time frame. For months I looked forward to those shows. I didn’t truly start to listen to Iron Maiden until deep into the 1990s and really recognize them as masters of metal, which is what they are. I’m just glad that I did.

Iron Maiden, British metal veterans, will be boarding their Boeing 757 this summer to perform another around of dates in North America. Since February, the band has been selling shows out all over the world. They will take a break before late May when they pick things up again. They will kick things off in Texas and then visit several West coast cities before they head to Canada in June for five shows.

Iron Maiden, metal veteran rockers, have announced dates for the first leg of their 2008 world tour. The wide ranging trek will span most of the new year’s first six months. The band is planning to play mainly their 80’s material on their new tour “Somewhere Back in Time.” They will kick off the trek in Mumbai, India on February 1. About 30 city stops around the world have so far been announced, including the first date in North America, a Los Angeles show on February 19.

During their 2008 world tour Iron Maiden, the iconic British metal band, will be flying the skies in their customized jetliner with frontman Bruce Dickinson as the pilot. According to a recent press release, band members, their 60 member support staff and crew, along with 12 tons worth of equipment will be traveling from show to show via a converted and specially commissioned Astraeus Boeing 757. Iron Maiden’s logo as well as skeletal mascot Eddie, decorate the plane.
